Youth and teens ages 8 to 15 build strength and grace while learning to set goals and face challenges in an engaging program that helps them find their inner artist.
You've never enjoyed strength training as much as you will practicing aerial silks. Adults and teens ages 16 and up
Once you've mastered specific skills and are ready for new challenges, you can audition to join an Intermediate or Advanced Program.
We begin training youth at age 8 and up. In youth classes, young students learn to safely work on their aerial skills using correct technique and always focusing on building the necessary strength and flexibility young students need to be successful.
Aerialists work hard. Our youth students build incredible strength and coordination as they practice. In a world where too many children spend too much sedentary time with screens, silks training keeps our youngest students fit and healthy both physically and mentally.
Most youth studets will practice in a Level 1 program for about 12 months before being ready to audition for a Level 2 program and becoming eligible for performance opportunities in our annual student showcase. Older youth students who are ready for advanced training may eventually audition for our Teen Level 3 program.
Adults and Teens ages 16 and up start their aeiral training in a Level 1 class. No previous circus or acrobatics experience required for Level 1. In this program, students build a secure foundation and learn to climb, tie foot locks, do simple poses and sequences, and focus on developing the strength required for future training. Students can expect to be ready to advance to Level 2 in 6 to 12 months with consistent attendance and practice.
After passing the audition to join a level 2 class, students will continue to build their skills as they learn new climbs, inversions, drops, and the skills required for advanced training. Level 2 students are eligible to perform in the annual student showcase with their class. Each month, skills are practiced and then put together in a short sequence. There is a lot to learn at Level 2 and some students will continue practicing as this level for as much as 24 to 36 months!
Our most advanced students pratice in a Level 3 program. After passing the Level 3 audition, these students continue to build their skills, learn inverted climbs, and perform solo acts at the student showcase. Many of our Level 3 aerialists are also instructors and assistance instructors in other programs at Mountain Shadows Aerial Silks.
